Sakallieros has taught a variety of undergraduate courses, including Modern-Greek Art Music, Introduction to Music Studies, and Introduction to Morphology and Analysis of Music. He has also offered seminars on critical editions of Greek art-music composers’ works and explored aspects and phases of Greek musical avant-garde in the 20th century. His teaching repertoire further includes courses on the fugue, 17th-century instrumental music, and advanced music theory and composition.

As an author, he wrote “Giannis Konstantinides (1903-1984): His Life, Works and Compositional Style” published by University Studio Press in 2010. His scholarly contributions have been presented at international musicological conferences and published in various journals, collective editions, and proceedings. Sakallieros is also a contributor to Grove Music Online. His compositions, which encompass orchestral, vocal, and chamber music, are frequently performed, and he was awarded first prize in the national composition competition “Dimitris Dragatakis” organized by the Greek Composers’ Union in 2003 for his string quartet “Lament for ‘D’…”. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the International Musicological Society, the Society of Interdisciplinary Musicology, the Greek Composers’ Union, and is a founding member of the Hellenic Musicological Society.
