Katerina Levidou

Katerina (Aikaterini) Levidou is an Assistant Professor of Historical Musicology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, specialising in Historical and Systematic Musicology. She received her Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) in Music from the University of Oxford in 2009, her Master of Music (MMus) from King’s College, University of London, in 2003, and her BA in Music Studies from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2001. Additionally, she holds a Piano Diploma (2001), a Counterpoint degree (2000), and a Harmony degree (1997) from the National Conservatory. Her previous academic positions include Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellow and Visiting Research Fellow at King’s College London, Junior Research Fellow in Music at Christ Church, Oxford University, and Swiss Federal Scholar at the University of Lausanne.

Katerina Levidou’s teaching portfolio includes courses such as “Special Issues in Historical Musicology: Russian Music” and “History of Greek Art Music”, as well as seminars on Igor Stravinsky. Her publications include the book “Essays in Historical Musicology: Aspects of Greek and Russian Art Music” and several edited volumes. She has contributed chapters and articles on topics including music and the Greek War of Independence, Stravinsky and Greek antiquity, and the role of music in early 20th-century European politics. Her work also includes encyclopaedia entries and book reviews for publications such as the Cambridge Stravinsky Encyclopedia and Grove Music Online.
