Abstract or Summary:

This study examines the relationship between Yorgos Sicilianos’s work and Greek national identity, particularly his engagement with ancient Greek literature. By analyzing his composition “Epiklesis,” which is based on Aeschylus’s “Persians,” the paper explores how Sicilianos incorporated elements of national identity into his modernist musical language. It discusses the broader methodological implications of his work within the context of cultural studies and the challenges of balancing national heritage with contemporary artistic expression.
