Performer Information

Theodora Dragoumi-Vlastou

Θεοδώρα Δραγούμη-Βλαστού

Dancer, Choreographer

Theodora Dragoumi-Vlastou, also known as Dora Vlastou, was a Greek dancer and choreographer with a notable career in the performing arts. She contributed significantly to Greek culture, particularly in the mid-20th century.

Her achievements include a performance during the 1957–1958 season at the Kotopouli-Rex Theatre in Athens. This production featured music by composers such as Yorgos Siclianos, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Sergei Prokofiev, Richard Strauss, Gioachino Rossini, Claude Debussy, Béla Bartók, and Johann Sebastian Bach. Giannis Moralis and Yiannis Tsarouchis designed the costumes and sets, with choreography by Kostas Nichols. Vlastou also participated in the National Theatre of Greece’s 1952 production of Erofili, contributing to the dance interludes.

Her strong connection to Greek culture extended beyond her performances. She had a deep appreciation for the Lyceum Club of Greek Women (Λύκειον των Ελληνίδων) and demonstrated her support through a generous bequest. She donated nearly her entire estate to the Society of Friends of the People (Εταιρία Φίλων του Λαού), an organisation she actively supported, furthering its cultural and social initiatives.

Sicilianos’s Tanagraea, Op. 17a (1957), was composed at her request for a solo recital on 21 April 1958.
