ERT- National Symphony Orchestra
Tasos (Anastasios) Diakogiorgis (1924, Maritsa Rodou – March 12, 2007, Athens) is considered as one of the most important Greek santourists. Born in 1924 in the village of Maritsa, Rhodes. At the age of 10, he began his musical studies and from 1939 to 1945 he took violin lessons at the National Conservatory of Rhodes.
In 1954 he settled in Athens in order to participate as a soloist in the Greek Dance Ensemble of Dora Stratou and to study Western European music theory with Manolis Kalomiris and Leonidas Zoras and percussion.
In 1962, Nikos Koundouros mediated his acquaintance with Yiannis Markopoulos, who assigned him to participate as a soloist in the music he composed for the film Young Aphrodites.
In 1964 he joined the Contemporary Music Orchestra and then the National Symphony Orchestra of ERT, where he remained until 1989.
He died on March 12, 2007 in Athens at the age of 83.
