Baritone
Greek National Opera
Born in Piraeus, Tassis Christoyannis has been a prominent baritone since 1989, performing in productions of the Greek National Opera and the Athens Concert Hall, as well as in some of the world’s most prestigious theatres. His repertoire spans leading roles in operas such as The Barber of Seville, Macbeth, Don Giovanni, Don Carlos, La Traviata, The Magic Flute, Eugene Onegin, Faust, Hamlet, A Masked Ball, Falstaff, Il Trovatore, Simon Boccanegra, and Wozzeck.
In addition to his extensive operatic career, Christoyannis is highly regarded for his recordings. These include works such as Tamerlano, La Traviata, Falstaff, Persée, Phèdre, and The Silver Bell. His discography also features songs by French composers, including Saint-Saëns, D’Indy, Gounod, Godard, and An. Equally dedicated to Greek music, he has recorded pieces by Hatzidakis, Theodorakis, Mamangakis, Kouroupos, Mikroutsikos, and Markopoulos.
As a composer, Christoyannis has created musicals such as A Christmas Story and Once Upon a Time There Was a Little Prince, as well as ballets like On the Road and Labyrinth. His song cycles, including E.E. Cummings and Thomas Moore, have been performed in Greece and abroad. His achievements were recognised by the French Académie Charles Cros, which honoured him as the “Best Interpreter of French Songs.”
