Νότης Γεωργίου

Conductor

Notis Georgiou is a distinguished Greek conductor, soloist, composer, and literary translator fluent in eight languages. At 32, he became the youngest inductee of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, recognised for his exceptional achievements. A graduate of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, where he completed a five-year programme in just three years, Georgiou has conducted over 130 operas and numerous orchestral and chamber works across five continents. Known for championing contemporary music, he has premiered many works written specifically for him and often performs as both conductor and soloist.

Georgiou has collaborated with leading orchestras, institutions like the Hungarian State Opera, and renowned artists such as Erika Miklósa, Éva Marton, and Ramón Vargas. In 2005, he famously declined an invitation to Carnegie Hall to preserve his artistic independence. Recognised with numerous Hungarian cultural awards, including honorary citizenship, his contributions were celebrated in a 2013 film portrait produced by Hungarian Television.
