Antony Walker is an Australian conductor based in Washington, D.C., renowned for his work in opera and choral music. He currently serves as Artistic Director and Conductor of Washington Concert Opera and Music Director of Pittsburgh Opera. Walker co-founded Pinchgut Opera, the vocal ensemble Cantillation, and orchestras Sinfonia Australis and the Orchestra of the Antipodes. A graduate of the University of Sydney, he trained as a tenor, pianist, cellist, and composer.

Walker has conducted at leading institutions worldwide, including the Metropolitan Opera, English National Opera, Opera Australia, and the Santa Fe Opera, and has appeared with numerous orchestras such as the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, and the Mozarteum Orchester. He is recognised for his expertise in bel canto, Rossini, French opera, Verdi, Puccini, and Baroque composers like Bach and Handel. Notable premieres include William Walton’s Troilus and Cressida (US premiere, 2008) and Christopher Cerrone’s In a Grove (world premiere, 2022). Walker continues to champion rare and contemporary works, bringing significant performances to audiences across the globe.
