In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Yorgos Sicilianos’ birth, the Athens State Orchestra presented a heartfelt tribute to one of Greece’s most estimeed composers. To mark the occasion, a commemorative video was created, offering unique perspectives on Sicilianos’ life and legacy.
Prof. Elly Yotopoulou-Sicilianos reflected on her life with the composer, sharing personal memories of her husband. Prof. Linos-Alexandre Sicilianos provided touching insights into his father’s dual role as both parent and mentor. Meanwhile, Prof. Markos Tsetsos explored the musical genius of Sicilianos, discussing his contributions to modern composition.
The tribute culminated in a concert honouring Sicilianos’ work, which was broadcast on Sunday, 13 December 2020, at 20:30, on the Athens State Orchestra’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.
