Wilfried Wenzel was a German violinist known for his role in the Assmann-Quartett, a string quartet based in Frankfurt am Main. The ensemble, active during the mid-20th century, included Klaus Assmann (first violin), Wilfried Wenzel (second violin), Heinrich Schmidt (viola), and Otto Engel (cello). The quartet performed extensively, including a notable concert on 26 November 1956 at the Stadtcasino’s Festsaal in Basel, Switzerland. Their repertoire featured works by composers such as Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven, contributing to the chamber music scene of their time. Additionally, the Assmann-Quartett recorded pieces like L’École Viennoise in 1966, highlighting their interpretation of Viennese classical music.
