New Helsinki Quartet

Violinist Petri Aarnio studied at the East Helsinki Music Institute under Géza Szilvay and at the Sibelius Academy under Lajos Garam. From 1984 to 1990, he continued his studies at New York’s Juilliard School under Dorothy DeLay and Joel Smirnoff. Petri Aarnio is the First Concertmaster of the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and has been a faculty member at the Sibelius Academy since 2000. He plays a Vincenzo Ruggeri violin, crafted in 1696.
