Paris Anastasiadis started his musical career in Czechoslovakia, where he was born. With a scholarship from the Hellenic Conservatory of Athens, he continued his musical studies (class of Giannis Vatikiotis) and obtained a Diploma in Viola (1984) and Violin (1985), with Distinction and 1st Prize. In 1983, he represented Greece in the European Union Youth Orchestra. In 1985, he completed postgraduate studies at the Royal College of Music in London with Yaroslav Vanetsek, and then, with a scholarship from the Alexander Onassis Foundation, he completed his Master’s degree (1988) at the University of Michigan with Yitzhak Shoten, also receiving a scholarship from the university. In 1987 he won the William Primrose International Competition in the USA. A founding member of the New Hellenic Quartet, with which he recorded a number of records, he was honored by the Union of Greek Theatrical and Music Critics with the First Prize for recording the overall work of N. Skalkotas for string quartet (2001), for the Swedish company BIS. His artistic presence in Greece and abroad (USA, Canada, Europe) is rich with recitals, chamber music concerts, festivals, etc. He presented in performance in Greece works for viola by Bartók, Hindemith, Bloch, Walton, Martinu, Tsalahouri, etc., receiving excellent reviews. As a soloist, he collaborated with the most important Greek orchestras ( ASO, TSSO, ERT., Soloist of Patras, Orchestra of Colors, etc.) as well as with foreign (“Virtuosos of Prague “etc.). He was principal viola at the National Opera of Greece and today holds the position of principal viola in the Athens State Orchestra.
