Giorgos Michailidis (Nea Ionia, Attica, October 1, 1938 – Marousi, October 21, 2018) was a Greek director, screenwriter, and playwright.
He was born in Nea Ionia, Attica in 1938. In the autumn of 1965, he founded the Nea Ionia Theatre, which closed after two years. In the spring of 1972, he established the first Open Theater in Kypseli, which closed at the end of 1975. He was a director and screenwriter for television series in the 1980s. In October 1984, the second Open Theater began operating in Gkizi.
On the evening of October 21, 2018, he passed away due to a respiratory infection at the Ygeia Hospital in Marousi, Attica.
