Christina Yannakopoulou [Χριστίνα Γιαννακοπούλου] is a distinguished Greek soprano born in Kalamata. She pursued her vocal studies at the Athenaeum Conservatory, under the tutelage of Kostas Paskhalis, from which she graduated with the highest honours and the First Prize. In addition to her musical education, she holds a degree in French Language and Literature from the University of Athens and has also completed studies at the Acting Art Workshop for Theatre and Opera led by Spyros A. Evangelatos.
In 1994, Yannakopoulou was awarded a Yamaha scholarship, and the following year, she achieved recognition in the Oratorio-Lied category at the International Singing Competition “Maria Callas – Grand Prix.” She continued her studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where she studied Lied-Oratorio with Kurt Equiluz and Margarita Lilova, earning her diploma with distinction.
Yannakopoulou has participated in numerous classical singing seminars both in Greece and abroad, working with internationally renowned artists. She has collaborated extensively with major Greek orchestras, including the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation Symphony Orchestra, the Athens Concert Hall, and the Athens State Orchestra. Her international performances have taken her to countries such as Colombia, Venezuela, Spain, Italy, Germany, and Austria, where she has interpreted works by composers like Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Wolf, Berg, and Britten.
Since 2000, Yannakopoulou has appeared with the Greek National Opera, debuting in roles such as the Queen of the Night in “The Magic Flute,” Echo in “Ariadne auf Naxos,” and Atalanta in “Xerxes.” She also teaches vocal performance at various conservatories, including the Kalamata Municipal Conservatory, the Athenaeum Conservatory, and the Kodaly Conservatory. From 2011 to 2014, she served as a vocal instructor at the Greek National Opera’s Opera Studio.
