Athens Trio

Τρίο Αθηνών

Piano Trio

The Athens Trio (Τρίο Αθηνών) was founded in 1982 and has since established itself as one of the most enduring and respected chamber music ensembles in Greece. The trio has performed extensively, giving numerous concerts in Athens, across Greece, and internationally, consistently earning high praise from critics. Their collaborations include work with major institutions such as the Athens and Thessaloniki State Orchestras, the Athens Concert Hall, the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT), the Ionian University, the University of Crete, and the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus.

In addition to these prestigious collaborations, the Athens Trio has worked with cultural organizations in many Greek cities and participated in both Greek and international festivals. They have been involved in a series of educational concerts organized by ERT and have made numerous recordings for radio and television. Their repertoire includes almost all works written for piano trio, with notable performances of Beethoven’s Triple Concerto, which they have interpreted multiple times with orchestras.

Dedicated to promoting Greek chamber music, the trio has recorded albums featuring works by Greek composers such as Sarantis Kassaras, Petros Petridis, Nikos Skalkotas, Mikis Theodorakis, and Marios Varvoglis. These recordings have been released on the Motivo and Intuition Classics labels. The Athens Trio is recognized not only for its artistic excellence but also for its significant contribution to the Greek music scene, making it one of the longest-standing music ensembles in the country.
