Violinist Sergiu Nastasa was born in 1962 in Bucharest. He received his initial violin lessons at the Music College of Bucharest and then continued his studies at the Music University of Bucharest, where he graduated. At the age of 13, he made his debut as a soloist with the Bucharest Radio Symphony Orchestra, performing Nováček’s Prelude.

Nastasa was a member of the Ploieşti Symphony Orchestra, the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Bucharest Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra. At the same time, he served as the concertmaster of the University of Bucharest’s Orchestra. In the fall of 1990, following an invitation from Manos Hadjidakis, he became a member of the Orchestra of Colours. Since 1991, he has been playing with the Camerata – Friends of Music Orchestra, and from 1996, he has been its concertmaster. As a soloist, he has collaborated with Camerata and the most prominent orchestras in Romania and has performed at numerous festivals in Greece, the United Kingdom, France, Cyprus, Hong Kong, and other locations.

With Camerata, Nastasa has recorded as a soloist and concertmaster works of Greek composers (M. Theodorakis, M. Hadjidakis, N. Mamangakis, Th. Antoniou, N. Skalkottas) under the direction of great conductors, including Sir Neville Marriner, Christian Mandeal, and Miltiadis Caridis. He has also collaborated with internationally renowned soloists such as Leonidas Kavakos, Dimitris Sgouros, Radu Lupu, Bruno-Leonardo Gelber, Salvatore Accardo, Mstislav Rostropovich, and Augustin Dumay.
