Greek National Opera
He was born in Lagkadas, Pella, and from a young age participated in a children’s choir with which he gave concerts in many cities abroad. He studied in Poland, Tashkent, and Warsaw. After completing his studies, he collaborated with the Opera of Tashkent in performances at the Bolshoi Theater. He first appeared as Marcello (La Bohème), and among other roles, he interpreted Sharpless (Madama Butterfly) and others. He continued his advanced studies at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, and sang in most of the countries of the former Soviet Union, as well as in France, Italy, and the USA. In 1967, he won a silver medal at the International Competition for singers in Sofia, in 1973 he received a gold medal in an international competition for singers in Berlin, and was additionally honored with the title of ‘Distinguished Artist.’ From 1977 to 1980, he collaborated as a guest soloist with the Greek National Opera. At the same time, he performed at the music venue ‘Ninetta’ of Christos Chairopoulos, while also teaching at the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki. In 1980, he became a permanent collaborator of the Greek National Opera, interpreting a multitude of roles such as Count di Luna (Il Trovatore), Alfio (Cavalleria Rusticana), Renato (A Masked Ball), Aetius (Attila), Silvio (Pagliacci). In addition, he appeared in the operettas The Beggars of Athens and The Merry Widow. The last role he performed was Giorgio Germont (La Traviata) in 2005. Several excerpts from recitals and opera performances at the Greek National Opera (Pagliacci, Cavalleria Rusticana) are posted on the internet.
