Greek National Opera
He was born in Ismaïlia, Egypt. He studied at the Vafias Drama School and the State School of Dance, Athens. He continued his studies at the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance, New York. During the period from 1971 to 1988, he worked as an actor with the National Theater and other private theater troupes, while he also worked in television. Since 1982, he has been directing and choreographing works for the Athens Concert Hall, the Cyprus Theater Organization, the Greek Theater of New York, the New Theater of Thessaloniki, the theaters Knossos and Eliza, and the Municipal Regional Theater (DIPETHE) of Lamia, Larissa, Kalamata, etc. In 1985 he founded the artistic union Theatrokinisi, for which he directed and choreographed the following works: Commedia, Blood Wedding, The Trojan Women [Troades], Orestes, Forest of angels, Moonlight sonata, Bacchae, A midsummer night’s dream, etc. During 2004-2006 he was a member of the Board of the State School of Dance. He teaches physical theater (Graham technique), as well as acting and movement (kinetics) at the Delos Drama School. He worked with the GNO as director in the productions of Pavlos Karrer’s Marathon-Salamis (world premiere 2004/05, 2010/11) and Aladdin and the Magic Lamp (in collaboration with the Athens Chamber Opera, 2007/08). In addition, during the decade 1989-1999 he choreographed ballet segments in eight operas and two operettas: Periklis Koukos’ Conroy and his copies [O Konroua kai oi kopies tou], The godson [O vaftistikos], The beggar’s opera, Parisian Life [La vie parisienne], Adriana Lecouvreur, The tales of Hoffmann [Les contes d’Hoffmann], Minas Alexiadis’ Long live life [Viva la vida] (1995/96) and The Seven Deadly Sins [Die Sieben Todsünden]. He also choreographed Michalis Christodoulides’ ballet Mythiamvoi (1990-1991).
