Ilias Sdoukos began his studies in the violin class of I. Tzoumanis at the Athens Conservatoire and continued at the Hellenic Conservatory, studying viola under I. H. Carter and I. Vatikotis. He received his diploma in viola in 1997 with unanimous distinction and an award. Sdoukos furthered his studies with a scholarship from the Onassis Foundation at the German Music Academy of Essen, graduating in 2000 with top honors under Sven Arne Tepl.

Sdoukos has performed in Germany, Austria, Iceland, Australia, Niger, Burkina Faso, Mali, Turkey, Cyprus, and Greece. He has received outstanding reviews for his interpretations of classical repertoire and works by distinguished contemporary Greek composers. As a soloist, he collaborates with the Orchestra of Colours and the Association of Greek Composers. He has served as principal violist in the Orchestra of the Essen Academy, the Nius Orchestra, concertmaster of the Sinfonietta Orchestra of the Municipality of Chania, and principal violist of the Icelandic Chamber Orchestra. Since 2001, he has been the principal violist of the Greek National Opera Orchestra.

Sdoukos teaches viola at the Music Horizons Conservatory, the Athens Conservatoire, and the Orfeo Conservatory.
