Elias Voudouris was born in Athens. He studied piano and advanced music theory at the Hellenic Conservatory, while he also earned a conducting diploma from the Hochschule für Musik Berlin, under chief conductor Hans-Matin Rabenstein (1978/83). At the same time, he attended summer Orchestra Conducting classes at the Motzarteum Salzburg under Milan Horvat and Dieter-Gerhardt Worm. He was conductor with the Hochschule für Musik Berlin Orchestra and also conducted the Berlin Symphony Orchestra and Sibelius Orchester. He has collaborated with numerous orchestras in Germany, Austria, Turkey, Bulgaria, Italy, France, Israel, Hungary, Russia, Uruguay and China. In Greece, he has conducted the Athens State Orchestra, the Thessaloniki State Orchestra, the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT) Orchestra and the “Hellenic Camerata” Chamber Orchestra. He has recorded a number of classical and contemporary works. Since 1987 he has conducted the GNO Orchestra in more than 50 productions, including: Rigoletto, La traviata, Don Carlo, Don Pasquale, Madama Butterfly, Un ballo in maschera, Thais, Die sieben Todsünden, Gianni Schicchi, Carmen, Il trovatore, La bohème, Werther, Adriana Lecouvreur, Fedora, Le nozze di Figaro, Nabucco (Odeon of Herodes Atticus). He has also conducted Greek drama works, such as: The Fire (I Fotia) by Yorgos Sicilianos, Conroy and his Copies by Pericles Koukos, The Apaches of Athens by Nikos Hadjiapostolou, The Masterbuilder by Manolis Kalomiris (Athens Concert Hall), The Cretan Girl by Spyros Samaras).
