Effie Agrafioti was born in 1955 and studied piano and music theory at the National Conservatory of Athens. She pursued advanced studies in Moscow, Berlin, Geneva, and Lausanne, attending seminars in Munich, Siena, and Zurich. Concurrently, she studied political science in Athens and later, in Geneva, art history. She has recorded three vinyl albums and three CDs featuring Greek piano music. As a soloist, she has presented works by Greek composers in major European cities and the United States. For thirty years, she has been dedicated to the study and presentation of Greek music, performing works by Greek composers in Greece and abroad. As an author, she has written two books on the piano and a monograph titled “Aristotelis Koundouros,” published by Papagrigoriou-Nakas Publishers. Her recent book, “Is Music Female Gendered?” was released by Dromon Publications. She collaborated with the Third Program of ERT for twenty years. In addition to her musical and soloist activities, she teaches piano and collaborates with the Polytonon magazine of the Union of Greek Musicians and the online magazine “Tar.”
