Choir
Centro Español de Nuevas Profesiones
The Coral de Cámara Tomás Luis de Victoria of the Centro Español de Nuevas Profesiones was a prominent choir founded in 1964 as part of the broader cultural initiatives of the institution. The choir was named in honor of the renowned Spanish Renaissance composer Tomás Luis de Victoria and was initially directed by Jesús López Cobos, who later became an internationally recognized conductor.
The choir was established with the goal of promoting Spanish choral music, particularly the rich tradition of Renaissance polyphony. Over the years, it became an important cultural institution within Spain, performing a wide range of repertoire that included both sacred and secular works from various periods. The choir’s activities were closely tied to the educational mission of the Centro Español de Nuevas Profesiones, which was known for pioneering various innovative educational programs in Spain.
The Coral de Cámara Tomás Luis de Victoria contributed significantly to the cultural landscape, not only through its performances but also by fostering an appreciation for choral music among younger generations.
