Bulgarian National Radio

The Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra was established in 1948 and is based in Sofia, Bulgaria. This orchestra is affiliated with the Bulgarian National Radio and performs in the Bulgaria Concert Hall. Over the years, it has been led by several distinguished chief conductors, including Vassil Stefanov (1948-1988), Alexander Vladigerov, Vassil Kazandjiev, Milen Nachev, and more recently Emil Tabakov (2008-2015) and Rossen Gergov. The orchestra is renowned for its full schedule of events, international tours, and an extensive discography of recordings. Its members hail from prestigious institutions such as the Moscow Academy, the Academy of Saint Petersburg, the Juilliard School, and the Munich Academy for Music and Theatre. The orchestra’s repertoire is rich and varied, including both popular and rarely performed pieces.
