Performer Information

Aris Papadopoulos

Άρης Παπαδόπουλος

Dancer, Actor

Aris Papadopoulos is a dancer, performer, and creator based in Athens, Greece.

He studied at the School of Architecture at the National Technical University of Athens (2009) and the National School of Dance in Athens (2012). Since then, he has been active in the fields of dance and performing arts, both in Greece and internationally, alternating roles as a dancer, deviser-performer, and creator of his own work. Aris explores a personal performative and representational vocabulary, experimenting with concepts of landscape and site-specificity as creative fields for design, action, and composition. His current research focuses on the diverse physical and representational imprints of daily interaction with urban landscapes, the design of creative processes, an interdisciplinary approach to landscape as a potential field of creation, and the reciprocal relationship between the embodiment of the landscape and the shaping of experience.

As part of arisandmartha, his artistic collaboration with Martha Pasakopoulou, he has presented works such as Lucy: tutorial for a ritual (2019), Five Steps to Save the World (2018), and touching.just (2017). The duo was selected for the European dance platform Aerowaves 2018 and has toured extensively in Greece and Europe through Aerowaves and the European Dance Network. Flexible in their dual roles as dancers and creators, Aris and Martha aim to discover new creative approaches with each project.

As a dancer and performer, Aris has collaborated with numerous dance companies and choreographers in Greece and abroad. He is a regular collaborator with the Onassis Stegi for the Dancing to Connect educational dance program. In recent years, he has worked with interdisciplinary groups such as Arbonauts (UK), Pietro Marullo (Belgium), and HIMHERANDIT Productions – Andreas Constantinou (Germany), as well as with institutions and organisations including Flux Laboratory (Switzerland, Greece) and Palais de Tokyo (France). Additionally, he has collaborated with independent artists such as Stefanos Tsivopoulos, Vittoria Cotsalou, and Dora Garcia.
