Through the personal narrative of Yorgos Sicilianos to Francis Guy, as well as through dialogues with collaborators, friends, his family – spiritual companions of a lifetime, the creator as well as the man is revealed to us. Through a full life devoted reverently to music, to contemplation, to the ministry of Art as a reflection of the inner world.
The publication is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of the great modern Greek composer George Sicilianos and the 5th anniversary of his death. It forms a separate section of Francis-Nectarios Guy’s musicological studies of the composer’s life and work. Here the presentation of the data is done with the primitive method of dialogue. For this reason, an effort is made to present them without any intervention regarding mainly the way of expression of the composer but also of the other interlocutors, to preserve as much as possible the freshness and immediacy of the live speech. There are also no interventions or comments on the elements listed in the dialogues – with the exception of a few points – since the aim of this publication is not to scientifically document facts and information surrounding the life and work of the composer.
