Greek National Opera, Athens Trio
Haris Hatzigeorgiou was born in Cyprus, where he began his violin studies. He later studied with a scholarship at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Kiev. With another scholarship, he pursued his postgraduate studies in Warsaw. He has given many recitals in Greece, Cyprus, and numerous countries abroad and has appeared as a soloist with various orchestras. He has made many recordings for Greek and Cypriot Radio and Television and has recorded works by Greek composers for violin and piano on disc. In 1982, he founded the “Athens Trio,” which has made many appearances throughout Greece, Cyprus, and abroad. The “Athens Trio” has recorded three LPs and two digital CD albums with works by Greek composers. In 1994, he founded the Chamber Orchestra of the Greek National Opera and took on the roles of Artistic Director and Conductor. The Chamber Orchestra of the Greek National Opera has repeatedly performed in concerts in Athens (Greek National Opera, Megaron) and other Greek cities. It toured Cyprus and participated in International Festivals with famous Greek and foreign soloists. The orchestra’s discography includes four digital albums. In 1996, a CD was released featuring works by Niccolo Paganini for violin and guitar. From 1990 until 2022, he was the concertmaster of the Greek National Opera Orchestra. As a conductor, he has appeared with various ensembles and orchestras (Greek National Opera Chamber Orchestra, ERT Symphony Orchestra, Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, Enarmonia Orchestra, etc.). He has played in the Athens State Orchestra, as well as in Manos Hadjidakis’ Orchestra of Colors.
