Ensemble
The Hellenic Contemporary Music Ensemble was founded by Theodore Antoniou in February 1967. Its initial members were the most talented musicians of that time with a particular interest in contemporary music.
The Ensemble’s first performance took place in March 1967 at the Hellenic-American Union as part of the Festival “Days of Contemporary Music.” Since then, the Hellenic Contemporary Music Ensemble has presented hundreds of works representing various aesthetic directions and techniques both in Greece and abroad, including the most representative pieces of the international repertoire.
It has participated in numerous concerts and festivals worldwide. Greek composers of all generations have been included in the programs of the Hellenic Contemporary Music Ensemble, with a special emphasis on younger generations, featuring commissions and premieres.
In recent decades, the Hellenic Contemporary Music Ensemble has collaborated closely in all activities of the Greek Composers’ Union.
